Naomi Mcintosh explores the landscape of the body with jewellery. Inspiration for the pieces comes from a fascination with rock formations, contours and thinking of the human body as a landscape.
Having studied architecture at University College London before progressing onto the Masters course at Central St Martins, the perception of space, the relationship between fashion and architecture and how a wearable object can be described as having architectural qualities have been areas of research. She uses construction, architectural methodologies and drawing conventions to develop a ‘Wearable Architecture’
The materials used are important and juxtapose line and surface qualities in the jewellery. The pieces are made in walnut wood and precious metals. Spaces that surround the body are investigated and the jewellery has a synchronicity with the wearer as it relate, outlines and reshapes profiles. Movement manipulates the pieces creating dynamic and fluid jewellery that responds to the body.
