"I have developed a process derived from a desire to explore the surface detail that silver can attain through manual manipulation. The Fine Silver sheets have been repeatedly folded and hammered until the entire sheet is covered with linear creases. From this point I form the metal up into a cylinder and begin to shape the vessel using traditional raising hammering techniques. The pleats I feel give the work a relaxed hand drawn feel, something that has always been important in my work while maintaining the preciousness' inherent to Silver. The pleats while decorative also offer structural rigidity to the naturally softer Fine Silver." Grant McCaig
